Regina di Renieri 2007 IGT Toscana |
 |
Tenuta Renieri comprises just over 300 acres right in the Brunello di Montalcino zone, on slopes that face Monte Amiata. The single Regina Vineyard, where the grapes for this wine are sourced is just 7 acres at high elevation and it's planted with Syrah which responds incredibly well to the volcanic soils and warm microclimate. Proprietor Marco Bacci crafts only about 700 cases of this powerful red. It spent 18 months in French oak barrels. The Wine Advocate scored it 90 points and called this 100% Syrah "wonderfully sleek and beautiful, particularly in the silkiness of the tannins." Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 91 points and said "This is a pure expression of Syrah that shows rich aromas of ripe fruit, leather, tobacco, crushed black pepper and blackberry. The finish is long and smooth. Pair this with steak in a creamy green-pepper sauce." Grab it while it's On Sale!
