Hermitage 2010 Domaine des Tourettes, Delas Freres
A top negociant with significant vineyard holdings, Delas, is owned by the Louis Roederer/Deutz Champagne firm. Since they acquired Delas over a decade ago, this firm has been under the management of Burgundian Jacques Grange, who has done an outstanding job producing a sensational array of wines. Jacques Grange did a fabulous job with his Cote Roties and Hermitages in both 2009 and 2010. The Domaine owns 20 acres on the famous hill that overlooks the town of Tain. This wine is a blend of wines from three separate plots: l’Ermite, le Sabot and the famous terroir named Les Bessards. Maceration was extened to 25 days and the wine was aged 18 months in oak barrels. Robert Parker scored it 96 points saying "One of the finest Hermitage Domaine des Tourettes I have ever tasted is the 2010, which comes close to rivaling their prodigious 2009. A wine of great intensity, it possesses an inky/purple color, plenty of creme de cassis, licorice, lead pencil shavings, camphor, flint and barbecue smoke characteristics, and a thickness and viscosity that eclipse that of the 2009. Full-bodied and powerful with sweet tannins, a striking floral/mineral component in the mid-palate, and a huge, massive finish, this brilliant Hermitage should be consumed between 2018-2035."
