This wine comes from a family owned estate in the village of Verdignyin the Loire Valley. In Sancerre this is considered prime real estate. The estate vineyard is 30 acres with vines averaging 25 years of age. It's divided into 15 parcels with unique differences in soil from silicious-clay soils, "Terres a Silex" to clay and limestone white soils, the "Terres Blanches" The wine is stainless steel fermented and minimal handling and no malolactic fermentation to bring out the bright citrus, melon and mineral notes. Robert Parker scored it 90 points saying "One of the most famous family names of the Loire Valley is Reverdy, and this particular one, Jean Reverdy, has turned out an outstanding 2011 Sancerre La Reine Blanche. Clean, pure notes of white flowers, quince, melon, and white peach are all present in this surprisingly opulent, fleshy, rather exuberant and flamboyant style of Sancerre, which is quite dry but surprisingly plush. Drink it over the next several years". And just recommended by the San Francisco Chronicle who said "This single-site bottling, aged in steel, bursts with layered notes: thyme, river stones, quince and green apple. It's mineral-packed but mouth-filling, with a masterful polish to the texture and peach-like sweetness."
