Folie a Deux 2007 Zinfandel, Forchini Vyd., Dry Creek Valley
One of the first places to turn to for outstanding Zin is Dry Creek Valley. A small but quality AVA in Sonoma with a warm climate and old vine plantings from the early Italian immigrants. The ocean fog rolls in in the morning, cooling down the warm temperatures and giving the grapes a much needed break from the California sun. When Trinchero bought Folie a Deux and decided to make it a Sonoma brand, they sourced top quality fruit from the best areas. This wine is comes entirely from the renowned Forchini Vyd. which boasts old vines up to 100 years of age. This deeply concentrated fruit makes for a very rich and complex Zin. Aged 16 months in Hungarian oak barrels this wine from the outstanding 2007 vintage is lush, ripe, layered and enticing. It's also very limited. Don't miss it!
