Centine 2011 Rosso, Toscana IGT, Banfi |
 |
Banfi is best known for the outstanding Brunello di Montalcino it produces from The Castello Banfi estate vineyards. This delightful value Super Tuscan red comes in at the other end of the spectrum price-wise, but it still delivers. A blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot with a touch of oak aging. It's a wine that ends up on Best Buy lists every vintage. The 2010 was awarded the Best in Show Red at the ninth annual Critics Challenge International Wine Competition, beating out bottles that cost six times as much. That's a quite a feat for a wine at this price point. No surprise the Banfi team is doing something right!
