Chateau des Graviers 2010 Margaux, Cru Artisan
Chateau des Graviers is without a doubt our most popular Bordeaux of all time. Vintage after vintage since the late 90's we've followed this very exclusive wine and been bowled over by the consistent high quality of this Cru Artisan Margaux. 2010 was another outstanding vintage in Bordeaux only about 3,600 cases were produced of this ripe, rich Margaux, most of which is sold directly from the Chateau to their customers in France. We are very lucky to have exclusive access to this wine here in the U.S. This 2010 is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 5% Cab Franc grown in the deep, gravelly Garonne soil. The vines average around 30 years of age. All of the grapes undergo a rigorous selection prior to fermentation and a 25 day maceration/fermentation follows. The wine was then aged for 12 months in 25% new French oak barrels. Don't miss it!

  • Q:

What is likely to be the ideal window for drinking? What is the likely life expectancy of this bottle?

Ideal drinking is of course always a matter of taste. Many will enjoy this now with decanting. In the cellar it should peak in about 4-6 years and drink well for up to 20.

  • Q:

in your tasting you mentioned "very young", is this drinkable now and if so should it be decantered for awhile to open or soften the wine ?

Yes. Decant it for 20 minutes to half an hour and you can enjoy it now. Ideally, if you can wait then cellar it for 5-10 years.
