For four consecutive years Red Diamond Merlot was ranked one of America’s top 20 Restaurant Merlots according to Wine & Spirits Magazine. Made by Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle, this affordable ripe red shows rich fruit and true varietal character. Winemaker Laura Sorge selects grapes from some of Washington's best vineyards and carefully blends 93% Merlot, 4% Cabernet and 3% Malbec. The wine is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels for added complexity and style. Classic Washington State Merlot at a great price. It’s no wonder restaurant goers can’t get enough of it.
We first encountered this wine at Trader Joes based on the recommendation of a staff member. Having tried a variety of merlots from all over, my wife and I find this to be the "most drinkable" merlot and won't buy anything else.
Was recommended to me by wine steward at a local restaurant when I was traveling on business and restricted to a meager budget. That was 7(?) years ago? And this has been my go-to everyday red wine ever since.
