About Our Ratings

Red Diamond 2011 Merlot, Washington State
For four consecutive years Red Diamond Merlot was ranked one of America’s top 20 Restaurant Merlots according to Wine & Spirits Magazine. Made by Washington State’s Chateau Ste. Michelle, this affordable ripe red shows rich fruit and true varietal character. Winemaker Laura Sorge selects grapes from some of Washington's best vineyards and carefully blends 93% Merlot, 4% Cabernet and 3% Malbec. The wine is aged 12 months in French and American oak barrels for added complexity and style. Classic Washington State Merlot at a great price. It’s no wonder restaurant goers can’t get enough of it.

Our "go to" merlot
We first encountered this wine at Trader Joes based on the recommendation of a staff member. Having tried a variety of merlots from all over, my wife and I find this to be the "most drinkable" merlot and won't buy anything else.

Best merlot for the money
I used to wine steward for Ralphs and I remember it getting
90 points wine spectator and we have it for $6.99 a bottle if you bought 6. It was a no brainer.

Inexpensive Go-To Red
Was recommended to me by wine steward at a local restaurant when I was traveling on business and restricted to a meager budget. That was 7(?) years ago? And this has been my go-to everyday red wine ever since.

How should it be kept after opening? And at what temp do you serve.
A shopper on Dec 28, 2015
BEST ANSWER: Actually, I made this purchase as a gift. However, I have purchased Red Diamond for my own consumption in the past.
I live in a warm climate where room temp is often a bit warm. So I keep two coolers, the one I use to store as well as reseal I keep at 58 degrees farenheit. Then open, or reopen, decant and let breathe for 15 to 30 minutes. Enjoy. Happy New Year.
Why does the label read, "2010" and the item appears as a "2011?"
