Seaglass 2012 Pinot Noir, Santa Barbara
Grapes for this Seaglass Pinot Noir are sourced from the Los Alamos Vineyard in Santa Barbara. The vineyard dates back to the early days of Santa Barbara viticulture. Planted in 1974, it was one of the first five vineyards planted in Santa Barbara County. The others include Bien Nacido, Sierra Madre, and Firestone. Only adding to its lore, Los Alamos Vineyard was the birthplace of Au Bon Climat in a humble dairy barn in 1982. Los Alamos has a very cool climate that allows the fruit to reach full ripeness at low alcohol and perfect balance. It grows great Pinot Noir which you’ll know with your first sip of this 2012 Seaglass. Ripe cherry, strawberry and raspberry flavors are complemented by earthy richness, good acidity and a supple mouthfeel. To find a Santa Barbara Pinot like this under $15 is truly remarkable.

            First time ordering wine express express, very pleased. Very good wine. We have not drank Pinot noir for a while,but after watching the virtual tasting, I was sold! Actually gave a bottle as a gift to someone becuase I liked it so much. Definitely a bang for your buck.

              This is a decent, but unremarkable pinot noir -- it suffers from what all moderately priced California wines suffer from: as a varietal, with no special climatological or other terroir considerations, the wine lacks nuance.

                To find a Santa Barbara Pinot of this quality at this price is very rare. Classic cherry, strawberry fruit with lovely hints of peppery spice and smoke. It's not super complex but very varietally true on the nose and palate. Great acidity with somewhat dry and clean finish. No reason not load up on this for an everyday Pinot.
