Meiomi 2012 Pinot Noir, Monterey-Santa Barbara-Sonoma Counties
Meiomi means "coast" in the local native American tongue and the coast is where all of the grapes used in Meiomi Pinot Noir come from. A blend from a series of vineyards all selected by Joe Wagner, Winemaker & Viticulturist for Belle Glos and Meiomi, stretching along the California coast starting from Sonoma, to Monterey, and last but not least...Santa Barbara. Each vineyard is chosen for its unique flavors, textures and aromas. Grapes are cold-soaked before fermentation and then the wine is aged in French oak barrels for nine months. Of course the Belle Glos single vineyards are all located in these regions and we'll bet there's good dose of Belle Glos fruit in this rich, bold Pinot Noir. The Wine Spectator scored the previous vintage 92 points and said "Dark and rich, showing toasty mocha oak flavors, with a beam of wild berry, raspberry, cola, vanilla and spice. Long on the finish. Drink now through 2020." Some call it a second label to Belle Glos but Meiomi shows first label and first rate quality and character.

Comments about Meiomi 2012 Pinot Noir, Monterey-Santa Barbara-Sonoma Counties:

For those that thing the Belle Glos wines are a little over the top but enjoy the big fruit, this is for you. As a second label, this is really a high quality Pinot with loads of strawberry, red cherry and hints of oak. It's still pretty big, but has a soft and silky feel on the palate. Long finish leaving behind some dried cherry and hints of dark chocolate. No need to cellar, drink it up!

Comments about Meiomi 2012 Pinot Noir, Monterey-Santa Barbara-Sonoma Counties:

As advertised. The video tasting helped me pick this wine. We pick this wine when we are in the mood for a deep, fruity wine, usually in the fall and winter.

                A:

It has a screw cap which prevents the wine from being spoiled by tainted cork.
