Clos LaChance 2009 Pinot Noir, Santa Cruz Mnts.
Item Number: 17 20 171 09
Founded in 1992 Clos LaChance is a family-owned and operated winery in the Northern Central Coast region of California. Sourcing from estate vineyards and growers in the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, they produce a variety of outstanding wines, not the least of which is their Pinot Noir. The poor, rocky soils make grape vines struggle and reduce yields while the high altitude and ocean breezes cool down the vineyards allowing the sun-drenched berries to ripen slowly and evenly, taking on deep flavors. This wine was aged for 14 months in French and American oak, 20% new. From the outstanding 2009 vintage, additional bottle age has brought out more nuance and a silky texture for peak of drinkability. There are cherries, strawberries, rhubarb as well as earthy, smoky nuances. A good backbone of acidity keeps it lively through a long, lingering finish. This is a limited availability wine that you won’t want to miss while it's On Sale!
