Heitz 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
Item Number: 13 20 363 09
Heitz Vineyards has a well-earned reputation for producing high quality, distinctive Napa Valley wines, particualarly Cabernets. One of the unique aspects to their production is the length of time that they age their Cabs before release. The style is always full-bodied, well-extracted with immense structure so Heitz let's his Cab aged two years in French oak barrels and a year in American oak tanks to allow the tannins to subside and the flavors to coalesce. So here is their their latest release, 2009. An outstanding vintage for Napa Cab, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced entirely from estate vineyards, brings rich, intense flavors and a beautiful structure that promises to keep this killer Cab going for many years to come. The Beverage Testing Institute just scored this 94 points saying "Garnet violet color. Aromas of menthol tobacco, clay, black currant, olive, beeswax, and carob with a silky, fruity-yet-dry medium-to-full body and a long, savory roasted pepper, honey, and nut accented finish. Fantastically flavorful and balanced."
