Maroon 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, Maroon Vyd., Coombsville District, Napa Valley
Item Number: 13 20 284 10
Paul Maroon started his small winery in Napa Valley with the purchase of a beautiful estate vineyard near Howell Mountain, located in the new Coombsville AVA. We first heard about them through the excellent Crauford Cabernets but he was already known for the quality of his Cabernet fruit and was selling it to Joseph Phelps for inclusion in their flagship Insignia wine. Now the grapes from this outstanding vineyard go into this Reserve Cab, and it clearly shows the quality and pedigree. In the cool 2010 vintage the grapes hung extra long taking on increased depth of flavor and complexity. Harvest finally took place on October 20th. After a slow fermentation the wine aged for 30 months in French oak barrels. It shows rich aromas of aromas cherries, dark chocolate, coconut, blackeberry and cassis. On the palate it's mouthfilling and intense. Silky smooth with polished tannins, the fruit is expressive even creamy. Cherry, cassis, blueberry and cocoa are framed by Asian spice, vanilla and coconut nuances. The finish lingers delightfully. Grab this amazing wine while it's On Sale!
