Manzanita Creek 2009 Zinfandel, Old Vine, Cloud Buster, Russian River Valley
Item Number: 25 20 132 09
An incredible find! Manzanita Creek was started by two brothers who worked in construction. They decided they wanted to make wine and took a book out of the library. Well, they obviously are very good students because within two years they had a wine selected to the San Francisco Chronicle Top 100 and they continue to turn out award winning and high scoring wines every vintage. This 2009 Cloud Buster Zinfandel comes from a vineyard at the eastern most edge of the Russian River Valley, planted in 1976 (38 year old vines) on a bench at the base of the Mayacamas Mountains, 300 feet elevation. The vineyard faces West and is sun-drenched while also being ocean cooled. The name ‘Cloud Buster’ refers to the WW II Fighters that fly overhead during the annual ‘Wings over Wine Country’ in August. This is a big, fruit forward Zin with plenty of depth. It scored 98 points on the website JustWinePoints. It shows red currants, boysenberry and blackberry up front with a lush mouth feel. The palate opens to berries, dark chocolate, coffee and cedary spice with a long finish. Enjoy it now and cellar some for later. It's on Sale and it's Limited!!!!

Q:Should this be cellared, and if so, for how long? ~sAsked on 5/22/2014 by Steve from Ashford, CT
A:This Zin needs no cellaring, drinks beautifully now. The fruit is vibrant and delicious. It does have good tannic structure. If you prefer a more mature style, cellar it for 5-8 yearsAnswered on 5/23/2014 by Josh from Wine Express
