Maroon 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Heritage Collection, Napa Valley
Item Number: 13 21 184 12
Maroon is a small winery in Napa Valley with a beautiful vineyard near Howell Mountain. For years they sold their prime Cabernet grapes to other Napa wineries including Joseph Phelps who used them in their flagship Insignia blend. Well, with grapes that good they had to start making their own wine. Now they produce several, but the best are their rich, full-bodied Napa Cabs as would be expected. This Heritage Collection Cab is blended from several vineyards giving the wine a broad flavor spectrum. Aged 26 months in two thirds new French oak barrels. It shows the intensity of the outstanding 2012 vintage; bright berries and black currants along with mocha and spice. Supple, ripe tannins give it a chewy mouthfeel and promise for future aging. Less than 500 cases of this lush Cab were produced. At the winery they sell it for $45 a bottle but with a special purchase we're able to offer our Wine Express subscribers a substantial discount. Don't miss it!!

Q:Hi, the info sheet says that this wine is "aged 26 months in two thirds new French oak barrels." If the vintage is 2012 and release is September 2014, this means that the aging in oak started in July 2012. This seems a bit early as the harvest is later in the fall. Is the fact sheet wrong?Asked on 10/17/2014 by Stan
A:It seems to be. We'll check with the winery for clarification.Answered on 10/20/2014 by Josh from Wine Express
