Ispiri 2009 Rocky Red Blend, Rockpile AVA, Sonoma
Item Number: 28 20 161 09
Rockpile is a very exclusive AVA that's technically part of the Dry Creek Valley. However it's quite a departure from most of the DCV. At over 1,000 feet of elevation, it's much more of a mountain AVA than a Valley. In these sun-drenched but wind-cooled heights, low vigor, stressed vines are planted on steep slopes in red volcanic soil. The results are low yield grapes with amazing depth and complexity but ideal balance. Rockpile wines are few and far between so we're very excited to have come across this lush Rocky Red Blend from Ispiri. A blend of 42% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Franc and 18% Petit Verdot. The wine was aged a full 28 months in 100% French oak; 20% new. Winemaker Leslie Sisneros has been living and crafting wines in Sonoma County for over 20 years and she has an in-depth understanding of this unique terroir. This Bordeaux style blend has a rich nose of plums, berries and stone fruits with hints of exotic spices that burst from the glass. Smooth, supple and concentrated on the palate with notes of blackberry, wild cherry and dark chocolate. This 2009 is very approachable now and will continue to deliver for many years to come. With this exclusive 25% off deal we're offering to our Wine Express customer this wine is an absolute STEAL!!! Don't miss it!
