Beringer 2012 The Waymaker Red Blend, Paso Robles
Item Number: 28 20 118 12
Hereís a new wine from Beringer Vineyards that made Robert Parker tweet "Fabulous new value blend from Beringer". Beringer has a tradition of farming unique and important growing regions. Knights Valley was one of the first and Paso Robles is the latest. Proven to be a stellar microclimate for Syrah and Cabernet, Beringer farms a 600 acre parcel known as the Camatta Hills vineyard with Rhone varietals and Cabernet. Camattaís incredibly chalky limestone soils lend the grapes distinctive characteristics along with great flavor and tannin development. This wine is a blend of 57% Syrah, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Petite Sirah and 2% Malbec. Chief Winemaker Laurie Hook monitored each of the lots through vinification and aging. The wines were aged in a combination of seasoned oak barrels with a small amount of new oak for 17 months. Thw wine shows enticing aromatics of blue fruits accented by floral and dusty notes. Itís full-bodied and juicy with soft tannins, ripe plum and blueberry flavors accented by hints of smoke and cocoa and a mouthwatering finish. Donít miss it!
