Chianti Classico Riserva 2009 Querceto
Item Number: 29 30 163 09
In Italian “querceto” means oak grove, which is where the Castello di Querceto got its name. Nestled in a high valley near Greve in the Chianti Classico zone, the castle, which dates back to the 15th century, is surrounded by a grove of oak trees. Wine production is a legacy here and quality is a tradition. This Riserva is a superior quality wine on all levels. It received 90 points or more across the board including 93 from James Suckling who said "Such clarity of fruit to this Chianti Classico with black cherries and blueberries and sliced mushrooms. Full body, chewy and rich. Very structured. Like a Brunello." and 91 from the Wine Spectator who said "Though packed with fresh cherry, berry and tobacco flavors, this is also chewy, with a spice and cedar side that adds depth. A modern style, yet harmonious and polished. Best from 2014 through 2023" and Antonio Galloni points out the value saying "Another gorgeous wine for the money, the 2009 Chianti Classico Riserva emerges from the glass with savory herbs, tobacco, licorice and dark red cherries. Here the aromas and flavors are distinctly earthy, while the wine's structure suggests another decade-plus of very fine drinking."
