Irony 2012 Cabernet Sauvignon, Small Lot Reserve, North Coast
Item Number: 13 20 193 12
It's hard to imagine winemakers who are more prolific and successful at turning out absolutely stunning value wines than the Indelicatos. As kids, brothers Jay and Chris Indelicato spent hot, dusty days helping their grandfather in the vineyards and growing up around grapes and winemaking 24/7. Now they are experienced vintners with access to a wide swath of quality fruit. For Irony Small Lot Reserve, they’re pulling together individual lots of Cab from premier vineyards throughout the North Coast, providing a spectrum of characteristics and flavors. Grapes are sourced from Napa, Solano, Clear Lake, Lake and Sonoma counties each vinified separately and aged in French and American oak barrels. All lots are tasted blind and the most exceptional are chosen for the final outstanding, harmonious blend. This 2012 received a Platinum Medal and a score of 95 points in the Critics Choice Wine Awards. They said "The blackberry pie aromas suggest a big, jammy wine, yet the palate is remarkably balanced and fresh, with berries and cassis held in check by ideally ripe tannins and great finishing acidity. Very young with years ahead of it in the cellar." Don't miss this as Cabs of this quality and price are few and far between.
