Brunello di Montalcino 2010 Tenuta di Sesta
Item Number: 26 30 318 10
The small family owned winery Tenuta di Sesta has a history dating back to the 15th century. The Ciacci family has owned the historic estate since 1850 but Giuseppe Ciacci began producing wine there in 1966, the very year that Brunello di Montalcino received its DOC status. Hence, Sesta is recognized as one of the appellation’s first producers. Modern winemaking practices are utilized throughout except aging is done in the traditional Slavonian oak casks. This Brunello DOCG ages for 36 months in barrels, and then a minimum of four months in bottle. The Wine Advocate scored this wine from the spectacular 2010 vintage 94 points saying "The elegant 2010 Brunello di Montalcino shows an impressive degree of inner grace and harmony. This wine expresses itself articulately with the softest tones. No part of its message is too loud. In fact, it whispers seductively with small fruit aromas, forest bramble, root beer, dried herb and balsam notes. The effect is feminine and finessed. Polished tannins make way for fresh acidity and long persistency. This Brunello sees 30 months of aging in large oak casks and is fermented with indigenous yeasts." and James Suckling scored it 95 points saying "Wonderful perfumes to this wine with hints of hot stone, blackberry, orange peel and nectarine on the nose. Full body, with a beautiful concentration of fruit and compacted tannins. The texture is every so silky and fine. It goes on for minutes. A beauty. Hot stone character at the finish too. A gorgeous and friendly wine. Drink or hold."
