Chateau Barreyres 2010 Cru Bourgeois, Haut Medoc
Item Number: 11 10 339 10
An impressive wine, Chateau Barreyres is a Cru Bourgeois located in the village of Arcin, just north of Margaux on the Medoc peninsula. The vineyards cover some 200 acres facing the Gironde River on gravelly and clay soils. Like Margaux their is high proportion of Merlot in the mix. This 2010 is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon and 50% Merlot aged 18 months in oak. Considering the pedigree and the fact that it's from a legendary vintage it's kind of remarkable that it's still available, and afford-ably at that. And even better, it's reached a superb peak of drinkability showing lush velvety softness and a complex melange of dark berry, black plum, roasted coffee, licorice and leather. This is one to enjoy right now while it's here. A real winner!
