Hahn 2015 Pinot Noir Estate, Santa Lucia Highlands, Monterey
The Hahn's founded their first vineyards in the late '70s in Monterey County and started producing wines that really made everyone take notice. In 1988 Nicky Hahn advocated for the new wine appellation that ultimately led to the creation of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. Since then it's been clear that the vineyards in this area were special. The combination of high altitude and the cooling influence of the ocean breezes make it a perfect region for growing Pinot Noir with lots of character and intensity. The sourcing for this 2015 was 34% Smith Vineyard, 38% Doctor's Vineyard, 26% Hook Vineyard and 2% Lone Oak Vineyard. The wine was aged up to 12 months in 33% new French oak barrels. No scores yet for this new release but last vintage was a Wine Spectator Top 100 Wine of 2016!

Excellent Pinot at any price
This wine is as good or better than the reviews which describe all its great fruit flavors and has body which will not dissappoint you. This would be a value at 2X the price.

Just wondering what the cellar life of the 2015 Hahn SLH would be? Sounds like it might shelve well for a while. Thanks
DONALD P on Oct 11, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Hi Donald, we recommend cellaring this wine for up to two years, Cheers!
Josh, how would you compare the Hahn 2015 Pinot Noir Estate SLH with the Lockwood 2013 Pinot Noir?
Francis C on May 19, 2017
BEST ANSWER: Interestingly the both have that good Monterey bright fruit character. The SLH is fuller and more layered.
