Amarone Classico 2009 Zeni |
 |
The Zeni wine tradition goes back to early 1800’s trading wine along with produce, olive oil and other goods. Eventually the family business grew and they founded the winery producing first quality Veronese wines. In the last two decades they’ve devoted all of their efforts to quality improvements and modernization. This Amarone Classico is a prime example of what they’ve achieved. Corvina, Rondinella and Mollinara grapes, hand harvested from hillside vineyards at peak ripeness are carefully dried for 3-4 months. After the drying process which concentrates the flavors to a peak of intensity the wine is vinified over a 3-4 week period then aged in large oak casks for more than 2 years before bottling. Wine Enthusiast Magazine said about this 2008 "On display here are bright aromas of red fruit and forest berry followed by deeper tones of dark chocolate and licorice. The wine is smooth and round with rich texture and well-proportioned sweetness on the close."
