Ramale 2006 Nebbiolo, Torraccia del Piantavigna
The Northern part of Piedmont is home to the superb wines of Gattinara and Ghemme. Just like Barolo and Barbaresco these wines are made with the Nebbiolo grape and typically require long aging. This wine from the Ghemme region however, is produced in a style that's forward and charming. Garnering Due Bicchieri from the prestigious Gambero Rosso, this 100% Nebbiolo is aged 18 months in French oak barrels to bring a supple character to the delightful rose petal, bing cherry and tobacco spice flavors. And at about half the price of typical Barolo, Ramale is terrific value and a wine you need to try.

Comments about Ramale 2006 Nebbiolo, Torraccia del Piantavigna:

While there is really no such thing as an "everyday" Barolo, this is about as close as you can get. It carries the same red fruit and secondary oak characteristics as many Barolos do, as well as those high tannins and acidity. While it may be just a bit lighter than your standard Barolo, at this price it is still an absolute steal.

should I store all wine received in a wine cooler. Or can it be stored in a cool dry place?

        A:

Ideally you should store your wine in some kind of temperature controlled wine storage unit. You don't want it to be in too dry an environment because that can cause corks to dry out and seepage to occur. You can get free advice from one of the Wine Storage Specialists at Wine Enthusiast toll-free 800-377-3330.
