Almaviva 2009 Bordeaux Blend, Puente Alto, Maipo |
 |
Almaviva is the joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild of Mouton Rothschild and Viña Concha y Toro. A truly distinctive wine that has received nothing but exceptional accolades since its first vintage and proven to be worthy of standing along side the Baron’s other great wines, Chateau Mouton Rothschild and Opus One. Production is limited of this unique blend of 73% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Carmenere, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Merlot. Grapes are sourced from low yielding old vines and the wine is aged 10 months in new French chateau barrels, then transfered to 2 year old barrels for 6-8 months. Egg white fining and no filtration. Steve Tanzer tasted it out of barrel and scored it 93+. Wine Spectator scored it 96 and said "Classically built, with a compact and fine-tuned frame giving way to rich cassis, black cherry reduction, fig paste, spice box and licorice notes woven with fine tannins, juicy acidity and a firm minerally spine. The finish reverberates the focused flavors, but should expand with mid-term cellaring. Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenère, Cabernet Franc and Merlot. Drink now through 2020." Limited time SALE!!!!!
