La Corte 2009 Solyss, Old Vines Negroamaro, IGT Salento |
 |
The name Solyss is derived from the Latin word for sun, and beautiful bright sunshine is something that's never lacking in the Salento region of Southern Italy. La Corte takes the utmost advantage of this climate to bring out the best in the indigenous grape variety, Negroamaro. They hired superstar consultant Chris Ringland whose resume includes not one, but several 100 point wines made from old vines grapes. So the 60 year old Negroamaro vines of La Cortes were a natural for his talents. In this 2009 the intensity and concentration comes through brilliantly as does the bright fruit. Solyss is a round, full bodied wine with sleek style and superb balance. This is a sophisticated wine that's priced for every day.
