Malbec Reserva 2010 Punto Final, Bodegas Renacer, Mendoza |
 |
The Bodegas Renacer is a new winery in Mendoza, Argentina, an ultra-modern facility was built in 2004. The wine is very new in how its made but the grapes come from vines that are very old. Two vineyards are sourced for this Reserva, each with 50 year old vines yielding barely 2 tons per acre. Grapes are subjected to a double triage and then fermented in stainless steel under the supervision of famed enologist Alberto Antonini. The wine is aged 10 months in French oak barrels and bottled without filtration. The 2008 scored 91 points in Wine Enthusiast Magazine who said "A rich Malbec with graham cracker, pastry, blackberrry and boysenberry aromas. Talk about super concentrated; this is thick but balanced, with tannic grip and dark, baked flavors of berry and chocolate. Bulky on the finish, with peppery spice, vanilla and a touch of heat."
