Dreaming Tree 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, North Coast |
 |
When singer-songwriter Dave Matthews wanted to create his own wine he went to a very reliable source. Veteran winemaker Steve Reeder knows his way around the vineyards of California's North Coast like few others, having made wine for Kendall-Jackson, Chateau St. Jean and now Simi Vineyards, he was the ideal partner. Dave and Steve's Dreaming Tree Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of 83% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot 5% Cabernet Franc and a few other gems aged 18 months in oak. With a focus on minimal environmental impact, the grapes are sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards using no pesticides. The label is made from recycled paper, the bottles are lightweight (1/4 pound less than standard) and the corks come from sustainably grown trees. The wine meanwhile, shows abundant fruit with notes of cherry, blackberry, anise and vanilla. It's soft and with a lush texture that makes it great match for everyday foods.
