About Our Ratings

Caymus Special Selection 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley
A truly legendary wine, Caymus Special Selection is a wine that Cab lovers simply can't get enough of. Introduced more than 30 years ago, Special Selection is a vivid expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from the Napa Valley. Starting with the foundation of their Rutherford estate vineyard and then securing contracts for long-term farming control of vineyards across the valley, Caymus has been able to solidify the extraordinary character and over-the-top quality of this very special wine vintage after vintage. The Wine Spectator just scored this 2010 96 points saying "A seductive style that’s openly fruity, showing supple plum and black cherry notes, with floral scents and spices, turning creamy and gaining a mocha-espresso-vanilla scent that’s enticing. Finishes with a smooth texture, fine-grained tannins and then another burst of fruit. Drink now through 2025." Limited!

Comments about Caymus Special Selection 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley:

I have had a few world class wines. One was a Chateau Lafite Rothschild when I was dining with my boss. He made me put the dinner on my expense account, which he would approve, rather than on his, which his boss would have to approve. I thought, at the time, that a single bottle of wine that cost more than dinner for 2 was outrageous. But then I tasted it, and it was worth it by far. This Caymus special selection cabernet is of that class: rich, subtle, complex, and beyond excellent.

how long can I cellar this wine?

I agree with Josh. This wine is 96 points and ready to go now. Kept at the right temperature will help it keep for some more years but not so sure it will improve that much unlike the other Caymus 2010 Cab which has that potential to age well. I have put mine away until at least 2015 then I might think about opening it, but maybe not.
If I were you I would open this one up and enjoy.

This wine is made in a style that's immediately appealing and so it can be enjoyed right now. If you wish to cellar it, hold it up about 10 years.

Hello-- all wine should be stored at 50-55 degrees. Cheers!
