Grüner Veltliner 2011 Weelfel Vyd.,Wagram, Weingut Wimmer-Czerny |
 |
Wimmer-Czerny is located in the eastern part of Austria on the north side of Danube river valley, in the little wine village of Fels am Wagram in the Wagram region. The vineyards in this famliy-owned estate are all raised biodynamically. This Gruner is a single vineyard wine from the Weelfel vineyard in Goesing. Thi south facing hillside vineyard receives good sun exposure but the high 1,000 foot altitude keeps temperatures cool. The 40 year old vines are low yielding, offering concentrated grapes with rich flavors.
The color is deep yellow and green. It shows aromas of green apples, pears and honey. On the palate it's fruity with white pepper and tobacco notes, fine spicy acid and minerals. It's beautifully balanced with a long finish.
