Perlato del Bosco 2010 IGT Toscana, Tua Rita |
 |
The boutique powerhouse Tua Rita, from Suvereto south of Bolgheri, has made a huge splash in the marketplace for a winery with only about 60 acre of vines. Celebrated Enologist Stefano Chioccioli came on and produced a string of Super Tuscan gems include a 100 pointer. Now winemaker Luca D'Amatto is carrying the torch and not missing a beat. This 2010 Perlato del Bosco is a 75% Sangiovese, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon blend that's dynamic. The winery is located on the coast just a few hundred feet above sea level so the vineyards are cooled constantly by the sea breezes. This brings a balance and intensity to the fruit that is hard to match. Aged for 12 months in French oak barrels, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate scored it 94 points saying "The 2010 Perlato del Bosco explodes from the glass with the energy and sheer power that is typical of the year. Dark red berries, licorice and smoke are some of the many notes that take shape in the glass. There is a sense of underlying tension here that is palpable, and that gives the wine much of its focus. This is a great vintage for Perlato del Bosco. Anticipated maturity: 2014-2022."
