Stag's Leap Wine Cellars 2010 Artemis, Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley |
 |
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars and owner Warren Winarski can arguably claim to have put Napa Valley wines on the world map. It was 37 years ago when Stag's Leap Cabernet won the famous Judgment in Paris Tasting in May 1976, beating out the best classified Bordeaux made the world stop and look to Napa Valley. A third of a century later they're still producing some of the best wines in the world. The quality and character of the Stag's Leap wines also lead to the Stags Leap District being granted AVA status. That quality carries through their entire line and shows through in Artemis, their Napa Valley Cab that's a blend of estate grapes from Fay, SLV and Arcadia vineyards with grapes from other top quality Napa growers. 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot, aged 18 months in 21.5% new French oak. The Wine Advocate scored it 91 points and said "The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon Artemis is laced with sweet red berries, plums, flowers, mint and cloves. It is an attractive, medium-bodied wine to drink over the next decade plus, once the tannins begin to soften. Today the 2010 is a bit compact. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025."
