Handcraft 2010 Petite Sirah, California |
 |
HandCraft Artisan Collection wines celebrate the California home and Italian heritage of third generation winery proprietor Cheryl Indelicato. She gives classic grape varieties her own personal touch by adding a playful dash of Italian and heritage varietals as a nod to the vineyard-to-barrel field selections that found their place daily at the Italian table when she was growing up. The result is a distinctive, fruit forward wine. This blend of 82% Petite Sirah, 7% Petit Verdot, 5% Sangiovese, 3% Syrah and 3% Zinfandel was aged 4-6 months in French and American oak. The Wine Spectator selected it as a Daily Wine Pick and Wine Enthusiast magazine made it a Best Buy, scoring it 90 points and saying "A really nice evocation of this variety, this is made in a soft style, with a Merlot-like velvety texture. But there’s nothing shy about the flavors: It bursts with ripe, jammy cherry, grilled pancetta, crushed pepper and sandalwood, and has a long, spicy finish."
