Simi Vineyards has enjoyed a rich history in California wine making. One of the first wineries to rebound after prohibition and since then has lead the charge in making classic Alexander Valley Cabs among other prime selections. The first American client of famous French Enologist Michel Rolland, current winemaker Steve Reeder has won consistent accolades throughout the industry including making a Wine Spectator #1 Wine of the Year when he worked at Chateau St. Jean. Simi owns 600 acres of estate vineyards in Alexander Valley including the Landslide vineyard, and so Reeder has access to the best fruit in the region. This 2009 shows that very well with intense black cherry, blackberry flavors balanced by supple tannins and toasty, spicy notes that linger on the finish. A classy wine thatís a stalwart of Sonoma County, showing real pedigree and at a great price.
