In 1989, Walt and Joan Flowers purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. This wine comes from thier estate vineyard, Seaview Ridge. Planted in 1998, Sea View Ridge Vineyard is perched upon Smith Ridge higher and closer to the ocean than Camp Meeting Ridge Vineyard. Elevations range from 1,400 to 1,875 feet – well above the ocean fog layers that cool the vineyard from below. The wine was aged 15 months in 30% new French oak. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 95 points saying "The most notable thing about this Pinot is its intensity of flavor. A blend of both new Dijon clones and older California selections of Pinot Noir, it is stunning with flavors of raspberries, cherries and Dr. Pepper. It’s a balanced, elegant wine with vibrant texture , but needs time to truly shine. Hold till at least 2017."
