Petite Sirah grapes from Terra D’Oro’s Burke Ranch vineyard are handpicked for this lush, spicy red. Grapes are destemmed and partially crushed, leaving whole berries for fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The fermenting grapes are pumped-over daily to maximize color, flavor and aroma extraction. The wine is then aged in a combination of French and American oak barrels for 14 months. A dark and opulent color in the glass, the wine has a powerful nose of sweet oak vanilla and bright, juicy fruit. The palate is focused with crisp and captivating flavors of ripe blueberry and jammy blackberry, with a warm oaky spice note on the finish. It scored 90 points in the Critics Challenge Wine Competition. They said "Subdued plummy nose. Very rich, juicy, concentrated, and has enough acidity to balance the dense blustery fruit. Quite good length."
