On their 14 acre vineyard, 15 year-old Sangiovese Grosso vines are planted at a density of 1,900 plants/acre. Fruit is harvested by hand, and for this Riserva, no more than 10% is selected at the sorting table and vinified separately. Grapes are crushed and transferred to tank by gravity followed by a 15-day maceration period with frequent punch down of the cap to promote extraction. The wine is aged for three years in a combination of Allier and Slavonian casks followed by two additional years in bottle. With 90+ scores across the board Wine Spectator scored it 96 saying "Gripping in its tannic structure, this red is nonetheless centered on a core of sweet cherry, floral, mint and tobacco flavors. Shows a grace and fluidity, coursing through the finish with finesse and harmony. Ends with a fine mineral aftertaste. A picture of refinement and purity. Best from 2016 through 2038."
