Tenuta di Renieri is located in the southernmost part of the Chianti Classico zone, in the town of Castelnuovo Berardegna. Here the warmer temperatures produce bigger, riper wines than in the more northern villages. Part of the Bacci group of Tuscan wineries, Marco Bacci oversees the winemaking, using modern techniques and expressing the local terroir. This Super Tuscan blend is 70% Sangiovese and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from 30 year old vines in the estate's vineyards. Hand harvested, the grapes were macerated for for 28 days. After fermentation the wine was aged 24 months in French oak barrels. James Suckling scored it 94 points and said
"Wonderful aromas of crushed blackberries and blueberries with hints of currants. Full body with beautifully integrated tannins and a long, long finish. The density and tannins are in balance."
This wine expresses the pure character of the Sangiovese grape, at it's best. High quality, lovely profume but lacking body. If you are in the mood for a lovely light elegant Sangiovese, this is it. Can elevate you appreciation of this classic grape.
