Di Bruno 2009 Pinot Noir, Vino Nero, Santa Barbara
From D'Alfonso-Curran comes this delectable Pinot Noir and this 2009 is the current release. Bruno D'Alfonso first worked for Richard Graff at Chalone and then became Richard Sanford's winemaker for twenty-three vintages. He is considered one of the best Pinot Noir winemakers in the business. And not only that, he has long standing relationships with the best growers in Santa Barbara. Bruno's goal now is to produce wines with incredible style, complexity and long life which is exactly what this Di Bruno Vino Nero is. It's beautifully styled, complex and long-lived. Bruno aged it in French oak, just 10% new, for over four years allowing it to take on a silky yet but serious structure and take on aromas of Indian spice, sandelwood smoke, black plums and fine new leather. On the palate the tannins are caressingly soft and the flavors are intense and complex with a long finish. This is the most unique California Pinot Noir you've ever tried and a steal at that.
