Founded in 1840, Dourthe is currently one of the greatest wine companies in Bordeaux. Its viticultural expertise, exacting quality standards, inherent understanding of wine and its dynamic approach are unanimously acknowledged and rewarded by the wine industry at large. Winemakers first and foremost, proud owner of a number of prestigious Bordeaux Chateaux and also creator of premium quality wines, Dourthe observes an uncompromising quality policy across all its wines, and its approach is reviewed and fine-tuned on a yearly basis. This constant commitment to exceed our limits is evident at every stage of the winemaking process, so that every Dourthe Bordeaux wine is a benchmark, vintage after vintage. This Bordeaux is their namesake wine and they take great care to see that it doesn't fall short. Sourced from Douthe's own estates and blended from the wines with the greatest quality potential. It is then aged for 12 months in new French oak barrels in the Dourthe cellars. This blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Petit Verdot shows aromas of ripe fruit and spice on the nose, made all the more appealing by a delicate vanilla notes from the new oak. Generous on the palate, the wine is wonderfully balanced, revealing black currant, cherry hints of tobacco and toast with supple tannins
and a lingering, well-integrated finish. Super Value!
No doubting this is Bordeaux from start to finish. Ample amounts of black and red cherry with notes of tobacco and that classic minerality. Softer tannins and a good dose of acidity gives this a pleasurable mouthfeel. Tough to beat at this price.
