Schlumberger 2013 Pinot Blanc, Les Princes Abbes, Alsace
The “Princes Abbés” were the first to sell the wine from Guebwiller and because they took care of the vineyard for one thousand years , Schlumberger pays tribute to them in naming their AOC range “Princes Abbés . Grapes for this Pinot Blanc were sourced primarily from the Grands Crus Saering & Spiegel as well as vineyards in the BUx and Bollenberg villages. After fermentation in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks, the wine matured for seven months on fine lees. Wine Spectator called it “A bright white that shows snappy acidity and a juicy mix of ripe pear, spring forest, apricot and candied lemon zest. Smoke-tinged finish. Drink now through 2017."
