Here's a Tuscan red that's an absolute steal. Tenuta Fertuna is a winery in Maremma on the coast of Tuscany where all of the great Super Tuscans are located. And as it it happens this particular winery has partnered with Tenuta San Guido, makers of perhaps the greatest of them all, Sassicaia, to make a special series of wines, representing exceptional quality and value. Lodai (Laudamus "We praise" in Italian) is what they cried out when they first tasted this stunning blend. 50% Sangiovese 40% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Merlot aged 12 months in French oak barrels. The wine shows intensity, elegance and style. Beautiful suppleness on the palate, it shows cherry, tobacco and exotic spices all in an ideally balanced framing. This is a wine that could easily sell for double the price and it's less than one fifth the cost of Sassicaia. Can't beat it.
