Handcraft wines are the brainchild of Cheryl Indelicato of Delicato Family Vineyards. What makes these wines unique is the blending in of different varietals with the main grape adding a twist to what otherwise might seem ordinary. DFV owns one of the largest vineyards in California's Central Coast so they have ample access to quality grapes, particularly Pinot Noir. For Handcraft, Pinot Noir is complemented by a touch of Sangiovese. The grapes are vinified separately and aging is in French oak barrels for 6 months. It shows a bright bouquet with strawberry, cherry, mocha and spice. Soft and succulent on the palate, it's a Pinot with pizazz and a super value! This 2013 was a Gold Medal winner with 95 points in the California State Fair Wine Competition.
I like the wine, would buy it again, very smooth, just like josh is saying. The delivery was a real problem with ups. Waited all day for a Thursday delivery per ups, stayed in the house all day, at 3:35 I find a note on the door, no one home, no one rang my door bell, knocking on the door cannot be heard unless close to the door. I called if I could meet the driver in my naborhood, or he can re-deliver, he declined, ok told ups hold the box for pick up, ok after 7:30 pm, went to ups at 7:45 pm after one hour of looking for my box, could not be found, I left town next day and requested delivery to my dessert address, ok but it takes 5 more day, I am only gone 4, so I told ups to hold the box for pick up 5 days later, finely I got my wine, what an ordeal. I requested per e-mail or text to inform me when my delivery is about to arrive, since a signature was required, I would have left my front door open, because in the passed I had the same problem, it dit not happened.
