The latest release from Taken Wine Company. Two young men from Napa Valley have taken the wine world by storm. Profiled in Forbes and Zagat 30 under 30, featured on the Today Show on NBC profiled in 40 Under 40 in Wine Enthusiast Magazine. Long time friends and from wine growing families, Carlo Trinchero and Josh Phelps decided to start their own wine making venture. As they thought of names and searched them for trademarks everything they liked was taken, so that's what they decided to call their business, Taken Wine Company. Their focus was to make great Napa Valley wine at an affordable price and having some close grower relations and wine grapes in their blood, they hit the ground running. This latest release of their classic red blend is a true winner. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon and 40% Merlot aged 16 months in 50% new French oak barrels. This 2013 got 90 points from the Wine Spectator who said "This strikes a balance between dark fruit, licorice, dark plum and enticing mocha-laced oak flavors. Clean and pure throughout, ending with tannins that provide good grip. Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Drink now through 2024." And Antonio Galloni scored it 91 saying "A rich, full-throttle wine, the 2013 Red Blend Taken, a Merlot/Cabernet blend is one of the more flamboyant wines readers will come across in this vintage. Unctuous on the palate, the 2013 is loaded with tons of super-ripe fruit and French oak, with all of its elements nicely put together." Finally James Suckling weighed in with a 92 point score saying "A big and juicy style of Napa red for those who love the 1990s genre. Yet there's a form and tension to the wine with chewy tannins that make it very drinkable and intriguing. Drink or hold"
