Conn Creek is a boutique winery on the Silverado Trail in the Rutherford district, best known for their flagship Cabernet Sauvignon, Anthology. In search of the best grapes to create this wine, they discovered many exceptional single-vineyard sites throughout Napa Valley. Today, Conn Creek sources fruit from prized vineyards in nearly all of Napa Valley’s renowned sub-appellations. From these vineyards, they showcase some of the best of the Bordeaux varietals grown in the region, including this graceful and vibrant Cabernet Franc produced in limited quantities. Just over half of the fruit is from Temple Family Vineyard in Pope Valley. This portion of the blend contributes richness and depth with a dark fruit profile. Stagecoach Vineyard on Atlas Peak contributes about 45%. This wine has cocoa and earth notes typical of the powerful wines from Atlas Peak. The wine was barrel aged for 18 months in 90% French and 10% American oak barrels, 40% of the barrels were new. The wine shows raspberry dusted with cocoa, floral, cedar and a hint of mocha on the nose. The raspberry cocoa core continues on the palate with notes of toasted spice. Large framed for Cabernet Franc but well-balanced and typical of the powerful 2013 vintage.
