Antinori's La Braccesca farm, which extends over 1,000 acres, consists of two distinct and separate blocks: the historic nucleus, located in Montepulciano, includes some 254 acres of vineyards in the appellation's finest sub-zones for the production of Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, while the second, approximately 400 acres is situated at the foot of the hills which surround the town of Cortona. That is the area where the Syrah is grown for this Cortona DOC red. Low yields bring concentrated grapes, all hand harvested. After twenty days of fermentation and skin contact, the wine went into new, French oak barrels where it aged for sixteen months. Additional bottle age has added complexity and softness to this rich Tuscan gem. The Wine Advocate scored it 90 points and Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored this 92 points saying " This is opulent and rich, with a thick, velvety texture and pretty aromas of blackberry, chocolate, leather and freshly milled white pepper. Cortona is the wine area of Italy that's most closely associated with this grape." On SALE!
