Chateau Ste. Michelle 2014 Chardonnay, Indian Wells, Columbia Valley
For this Indian Wells Chard, half of the fruit is sourced from vineyards in Washington’s Wahluke Slope. The Wahluke Slope is a cool growing area bordered on both the west and the south by the Columbia River. The region’s warm days cause the grapes to assert sweet citrus and tropical characteristics, while the cool nights promote good structure, balance and flavor intensity. The wine is 100% sur lie aged for five months to integrate the fruit and oak flavors and provide a rich mouthfeel. Wine Enthusiast Magazine scored it 90 points and said “Barrel spice, pineapple, butterscotch and candlewax aromas are followed by full-bodied tropical-fruit flavors. It displays a lot of richness but retains its sense of balance."
