Gary Farrell 2013 Chardonnay, Russian River Valley
Beginning in the late 1970s, Gary Farrell was working with seminal Russian River Valley vintners such as Davis Bynum, Joe Rochioli, Tom Dehlinger and Robert Stemmler. He made his first wine under the Gary Farrell label in 1982 and built the winery into one of the most acclaimed producers of small-lot Pinot Noirs and Chardonnays in the Russian River Valley. This latest release Chard is true to form. Sourced from several prime vineayrds arround the Russian River Valley AVA, the wine was aged 8 months in 40% new French oak. With several 90+ scored, Wine & Spirits socred it 93 saying "In her second vintage at Gary Farrell, Theresa Heredia drew on seven vineyards sites, including pedigreed vineyards like Rochioli and Allen, to compose this vibrant Russian River wine. It's an intense chardonnay, with a spicy, floral scent that brings chanterelle mushrooms and apple skin to mind. It holds that abundance of flavor in a texture that's clean and breezy, seemingly weightless. Decant it and explore its nuances over a multicourse dinner."
