Located in the historic Chianti region in the municipality of Castellina in Chianti, Tenuta di Bibbiano has been in the Marrocchesi Marzi family since 1865 and continues to grow. Their vineyard, Vigna del Capannino lies on a slope with the best exposure and microclimate in the area, on rocky alberese soil. This Chianti Classico is a blend of 95% Sangiovese and 5% Colorino vinified over 20 days in cement tanks. It aged in Slovenian oak casks for 4 months, followed by another 3 months in bottle prior to release. The Wine Spectator scored this 2013 90 points saying "A blast of pure cherry signals this succulent Chianti Classico. Slim and vibrant, with fine harmony and a finish that adds tobacco and earth accents to the mix. Drink now through 2019." and James Suckling scored it 93 saying "This is very beautiful showing the purity and finesse of a super sangiovese-based red. Full to medium body, polished fine tannins and a long, long finish. Very pretty now but better in 2016."
