Founded in 1997, Fertuna is located in the heart of the Tuscan Maremma, an area with great winemaking potential fast becoming known for its high-quality wines. This particular winery is a very special partnership between Guiseppe Maregalli and the Marchese Nicoḷ Incisa della Rochetta of Sassicaia. Their focus is to make a special series of wines, representing exceptional quality and value. Pactio; a rich Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot blend is their best value of all. Paolo Rivella worked with Sassicaia winemaker Graziana Grassini to put together this blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot. The grapes are sourced from 10 year old vines in the Gavorrano region of Maremma, in Tuscany, where the soils are stony Galestro (schist based soil) with clay. Pactio spends 4 months in brand new French oak barrels followed by some bottle aging to round out the tannins. It's very ripe on the nose with intense red fruit notes and hints of vanilla. On the
palate Pactio is warm, soft and well structured. Nicely balanced with soft tannins and a lengthy finish. An absolute steal, don't miss it!
